The Artist

George Valentin (Jean Dujardin) is the superstar of the great Hollywood cinema of the 1920s. The hearts of the audience fly to the incomparable charmer and daredevil. He enjoys and celebrates his fame and discovers the talent of the young extra Peppy Miller (Bérénice Bejo) as if in passing. But with the turning point from silent film to talkies, the two actors suddenly find themselves between fame and downfall: Valentin refuses to believe that talkies are threatening to overrun his career. For Peppy Miller, however, the new technology means a breakthrough: the starlet becomes a celebrated cinema star! THE ARTIST tells the story of two destinies: idolised by the masses and blinded by his own image, a man is too proud to submit to the new - and falls into nothingness. A dancer from the third row throws herself into this new world with delightful enthusiasm - and the audience is at her feet.
